A Happy & A Sad Story

It was a happy-merry wedding dinner, where my ex-colleague whom I knew for more than 5 years had finally tied knot with her boyfriend.

The run down of the banquet was pretty smooth and familiar. For instance, the MC would illustrate the couple's romance on the stage in full length; the projector would repeatedly show the couples' photos covering from baby time till the day they get married; the guests would make fool of the couples with some sorts of silly games...

When the couple were invited to give their speech on stage, I was rather moved to hear their words to each other. The bride said for the past 9 years, the things they did the most together were sports and quarrel. When they patched up each time, their relationship would grow ever stronger. On the other hand, the groom expressed his gratitude for the girl's competence in every way, though she can be extremely absent minded in some important occasions....They ended their speech with tears, laughter and a sweet kiss. Ahhh, such a sweet and happy ending.

On the other hand, I was rather disturbed when my friend who sat next to me, telling me about the news that she has just got when she was on the way to the banquet. It was about her friend, who has been just deserted by her own husband. The root cause was because the husband is having an affair with his colleague on-and-off all these years. This man, heartless enough to give up his marriage, his wife and 2 very young children. The wife who is proud with her marriage and kids all these years couldn't take this break up at all and was totally devastated with her husband's divorce request. So, my friend was really worried if the poor wife would do anything stupid, together with the young kids. Although I don't know her friend, I felt sad and worried for her too.

It's very weird to see and hear the 2 extreme contrasts happening at the same night, that I sighed in vain : What is love? If love is so mighty wonderful at one side, how can it break one's heart so deeply and ruin one's life so profoundly at the other side?

This morning, when I was reading the newspaper, my attention was captured by a quote "What is Love? Buddha said : rubbish".
*
*
The quote had made me chuckled all the way. At first thought, the quote is very funny. But at second thought, I think it is true in a way. Isn't that the bonds and the attachment that we grab so tight in fist, would break us one day, and ultimately, turn into rubbish?
