Pandan Chiffon Cake

I have been searching high & low for the pandan leaf these day, but to no avail.


One day, husband brought home a small bottle of pandan essence for me, said it's from his colleague who love baking too. Although it was not the real leaf I was hoping for, I was so grateful to the girl and thus, I wanted to bake her a pandan cake as return.



Yeah, my first pandan chiffon cake. It rise alright, but I hope to improve its appearance with the brown skin keep intact. Emm...I got to ask my friend to get some tips then.



Despite of the imperfection, the texture is moist & soft enough. We love it.





I wonder if the real pandan leaf will give better aroma than the essence? Wish I can find the source to get the leaf one day.

Wah!! you are really into baking fever ...
Maybe next time if you have someone going over to HK, u can get them to bring the whole plant with root to you and try to plant in a pot outside yr house, not sure the weather there is suitable for pandan or not.

It's also because the weather for the past few weeks were very bad, so we stayed home almost every weekend, and the best thing to do is baking lo...

Yeah, I hope to get some pandan root and try to plant it here, will see lah...
