Bird's View

We gobbled the foods like 4 hungry wolves. After full, we lazed on the bed again.

One hour later, husband and I carried out the plan which we have talked about on the night before. We would go to the top of the Campanile (St. Mark's Bell Tower) by ourselves, and left the boys in the hotel room for some good rest. The boys welcome the idea. After a long walk in the morning time, they really prefer to stay in the air-con room and watch TV. Ok, sounds like a win-win situation here.

We told them we would be back in 30 minutes time, and I left my hand phone to them, asked them to call us in case of emergency. Also, I reminded them not to simply open the door when they hear a knock, that they got to be sure who is at the back first. I nagged and I nagged....saw them nodded their head but their eyes had never left the TV screen.

After making sure everything was ok, we closed up the door and walked to the San Marco Square again. The time was about 3.30 pm by then.

Luckily, the queue wasn't too long. We only waited for 5 minutes for our turn to buy 2 tickets (€8 per head), then, we go straight to the top.

The Campanile sits over 320 feet high. No worry about being athletic, the tourists can take the elevator up to the top to enjoy the spectacular views of Venice.

The tower itself has 5 bells that toll every hour.

Yes, view of Venice as seen from the Campanile is spectacular....

Panorama of the Guidecca Canal and the St. Mark's Basin.

Saw a long queue waiting to enter the San Marco Church.

View of San Giorgio Maggiore Island.

San Giorgio Maggiore Island behind the bar.

Doge's Palace.

The inner courtyard

Aerial view of Santa Maria Church, the place we have just been in that morning time.

St. Mark's Clock Tower.

We wrapped up the 360 deg viewing angle as quickly as possible, then we descended by using the one-and-the-only-one elevator. Indeed, we have made it "home" within 30 minutes time.

Just when I knocked, the little one opened up the door fast, without checking. Sigh, what have I told them before leh....I got to nag and lecture them from all over again.
